Fugitive ex-pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, was still receiving salary even after his dismissal — Lawyer

A shocking revelation was made at the House of Representatives hearing into the recall, reinstatement, and promotion of wanted former chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina, yesterday November 23rd. The house set up a panel to look into Maina's recall last month following a public outcry when the fugitive former pension boss was reinstated into the civil service in very controversial circumstances. President Buhari ordered for his dismissal immediately after the news broke online. Maina was dismissed from office in 2013 and declared wanted by the EFCC and INTERPOL for carrying out N2.1 billion fraud while he was in office.

While being questioned, Maina's lawyer, Mohammed Katu, told the lawmakers that his client has been receiving his salaries despite being sacked for years.

When asked by lawmakers if Mr. Maina was still getting paid, he said, “Yes. Maina continued to work even after his dismissal. As at last month, about 23 files were sent to him, in his capacity as acting director…even while he was absent.

“On the issue of his disappearance, he had to disappear because there was so much threats to his life. On the issue of his dismissal from service, which came up in 2013, we have documents to say here that even after he was allegedly sacked, he still wrote letters to the then president, finance minister, and the rest, which they acted on. I can tell you that about 23 files were sent to Maina even as at last few months to treat in his capacity as acting director, even after the purported dismissal. Another matter was that whether those that sacked him had powers to do so. When his lawyers realized that there was a process of sacking him, they wrote a letter to the commission that he filed a case in court against that. His letter wasn’t complied with,” the lawyer said

I was wrongly accused of stealing that handchain, this is what actually happened - Tomiwa

A trendy theft parading video of a young Nigerian Tomiwa, accused of stealing a Cuban hand chain went so viral on Sunday morning, the full gist was uncovered, so our team of professional researchers took it up and made more investigation to enlighten the general public on what really happened.

It's been a baffling moments for the accused, his families and general public after a video of him being paraded on the street of Egbeda and been addressed as a thief went really fast across many media platforms.
Tomiwa has come on air to clear the general public on what really happened in other to avoid his image being tarnished beyond the mess he is right now caused by friends.

"I got to the school field in the morning where we all go to chill during weekends to watch different activities, .
So while chilling with friends from different province the so called Pablo, rushed in and gave me a gold chain to hold for him, at first
i gave it a second thought and questioned him but he didn't say a word about it and left immediately, saying just help me keep am, so as a friend
I never thought that he would have stolen the chain from someone else, Not quite long i heard noises of everyone looking for an hand chain,
so I discovered that the chain Pablo gave to me was the same stolen chain they were all searching for.

Immediately i called his senior brother aside and quickly explained how Pablo came to give me the chain and now everyone seems to be searching for it,
Then his brother pleaded to me i should save Pablo, that i shouldn't tell anyone else, shouldn't expose his brother to avoid his image being tarnished and him being rough handled, he then promised i wouldn't be searched

His brother convinced me that he knows how he will tell the owner of the chain that it was taken by his brother but I never knew that it would get out of hand that way
this is a very big lesson for me .

#SayNoToFakeFriends.

It was too late before i realized it was a setup.
The most painful part, every of the story was only on me, only my picture and video was uploaded, Pablo's face wasn't revealed.
Every one rough handling and screaming on me in that video are all my friends, really so shocking, this situation made me know who loves me and those who're jealous about my success and trying to tarnish my good image.
Investigations are going on, every single person involve in the plot would be pointed out and exposed.
Thanks to every one standing by me, God bless you all.

He hereby releases various explanatory video to the incident.

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has been removed from power and his former vice president installed as interim president

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, who has ruled the country for over 37 years, since independence from the UK, has been removed from power and his former vice president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who he sacked some days back, has been installed as an interim president.

The move comes after the Zimbabwe army seized power overnight with gunshots and explosions heard in the capital. The 93-year-old dictator was arrested along with his wife by the army in the capital Harare. A leading South African news website has reported that Mugabe is now preparing to step down. News24 also claims that he has made negotiations for his wife Grace to leave the country.

Former Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, 75, who Mugabe fired some days back, will now take power according to the ruling ZANU PDF Party. The party also issued a series of tweets this morning, saying there was not a military coup - just a "bloodless transition".

The statements read: "Last night the first family was detained and are safe, both for the constitution and the sanity of the nation this was necessary. Neither Zimbabwe nor ZANU are owned by Mugabe and his wife. Today begins a fresh new era and comrade Mnangagwa will help us achieve a better Zimbabwe."

"There was no coup, only a bloodless transition which saw corrupt and crooked persons being arrested and an elderly man who had been taken advantage of by his wife being detained. The few bangs that were heard were from crooks who were resisting arrest, but they are now detained.

"ZANU PF has a way of solving our own problems, the situation is stable and Zimbabwe is open for business. There was no coup, but a bloodless peaceful transition- the centre is strong and there is peace with honest leadership."

In other tweets, Zanu PDF Party continued to reiterate that it was not a coup. The situation in the country is tense. Observers report that people are going about their business, taxis are running but everywhere is unusually quiet.

Meanwhile, controversial British journalist, Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter to gloat about the removal of Mugabe. He revealed that he will be shedding no single tear for the ousted dictator.
