Innoson, Efcc and the Gtb Loan; Facts behind the saga

Recently, the Innoson/GTBank story has gained so much media prominence, especially following the arrest of the Innonson chairman a few days ago by EFCC. Though the case is pending in court, Innoson has taken the battle to social media. There have been numerous sponsored social media campaigns against the Bank such as #BewareOfGTBank and #WhatIsWrongWithGTBank. The company has also gone Television, with its owner, Dr Innocent Chukwuma granting an interview to TVC, where he claimed he had obtained a judgement of N8bn against the bank. He added that the bank pleaded with him over their inability to pay.

GTBank on their part has chosen to remain silent on the matter, perhaps trusting in the integrity of the legal system as against playing to the gallery. Many attempts by us to get the bank’s representatives to comment on the story has proven abortive. A staff of the bank who spoke under anonymity, stated “Irrespective of the issues we are facing with the company, Innoson remains a customer of the bank and we owe him a duty of confidentiality and to conduct ourselves in a responsible manner towards him”. This statement didn’t stop us from conducting our own investigations on the matter, and below are our findings, put in bullet points for your optimum understanding.

[Interview] A Quick Discuss with Miss Chiamaka

1) Question: Can we meet you?
I am Umeike Chiamaka Feranmi, an indigene of Anambra state, graduate of the University of Ibadan and the current Miss Ideal Nigeria Top Model.

2) Question: Tell us about your modelling career

I started modelling in 2011, I took it as a hobby then because I just loved taking pictures and being in front of the camera.. I got fully into modelling in 2015 when I was in 400l, I remember saving up my allowances till the end of the month and spending it on shoots.. It was a strong move on my part because people saw me as someone wasting my time.. My modelling career is still gradually moving forward.. At least I can boldly say I wasn't where I was few years back. I have gone for a lot of castings, auditions, pageants, done shoots and gone for a fashion show.. Its really was and still is a sacrifice on my path to forge ahead in this career and to be honest, it feels really good to be chosen in all the auditions I've been at.

3) What inspired you?

My inspiration came from my love for modelling. Taking pictures, makeovers, I just love being in front of the camera and also watching fashion TV, I loved the way the models strut on the runway, the poses they give photographers during shoots, it really captivated me.. Its difficult to believe but I learnt how to first catwalk by watching models on the television and I practiced really hard to get pretty perfect in it..

Question 4: Who is your role model?

I have lots of role models and they are models and pageant Queens... Demi Leigh, the current Miss Universe is one of my role models, Laura Gonzalez, first runner up Miss Universe 2017, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, The Opeyemi and Gigi Hadid... My favourite of all of course is Gigi Hadid.. She is a really beautiful, kind and professional Super model... Apart from being a model, she also partners with makeup companies and designers which is really a big step for her and a huge challenge😊😊 I love her..

Question 5: How often do you model?

I do that when I am super free and when I'm not in school.. At the moment, I try to take shoots and improve on my poses, practice my catwalk everyday, I mean everyday😁 and since I was crowned the Top Model in August, I've pretty much had a busy career.. Its really fun and exciting when they call me up and tell me to come for castings or shoots..

Question 6: Do you have any existing contract with any company??

Yes I do. I am registered under the House of Twitch family.. I really don't call them my agency but my 2nd family because they made me feel so welcomed and its really good being around everyone there... It has been smooth journey so far and its a blessing having a boss who is always there for you every time😁😁

Question 7: What's your memorable moment of your career?

Hmmmmmm I would say being crowned Top Model... I was really looking forward to being crowned a title that will pave the way into my modelling career and this title just did... It was really a great honor to be crowned such an important post in my family😁😁 and by family, I mean House of Twitch.

Question 8: Does your parents support your career??

Uhmmm mum does but dad doesn't... Mum loves to hear about what I did, what I am doing and what I want to do.. I'm closer to her so I share my visions and goals with her and she fully supports me.. It has been so difficult to get dad to see from my perspective cos he believes as a girl, modelling is not a career that can make you marry a real man😂😂😂😂

Question 9:How do you handle your male counterparts?

Surprisingly, I have more male friends than female😂😂 my male model friends really encourage me and its always nice being around them.. Some even teach me how to be a good Queen, advise me on what to do and what not to do, they have really impacted positively in my career and its a huge blessing having them in my life...

Question 10: Does your guy give you his 100% support or by the way are you in a relationship??

I am not in a relationship at the moment.. I want to focus on myself for now but I know I want a guy who will always support my evey move and my career..

Question 11: How do you manage your career and your relationship?

Okay like I said earlier, I am currently not in any relationship but managing my career and my relationship life will always be possible... I believe anything personal should stay hidden from the public eyes..

Question 12: what's your most difficult experience?

I would say sourcing for sponsors when I was planning to contest for Miss Ideal Nigeria... It was a very big challenge and I had to run helter skelter... Thanks to my Manager then Daphne who really supported me and was always there for me.. I got my sponsor late but it was worth it..

Question 13: what do you have for the youths out there? Always follow your dreams, be determined, be focused, look at the positive side of everything and believe all will be well. Thank you

'It is Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment and not Couples' Fulfillment' Imo state government clarifies

The Chief Press Secretary to the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, Sam Onwuemeodo, says contrary to public opinion, the new Ministry the state government created is the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment and not the Ministry of Happiness and Couples fulfilment. In a statement released, Onwuemeodo says there was a typographical error during the swearing in ceremony as the printer erroneously replaced Purpose with Couple.

“There was a typographic error in the first statement issued on the swearing in of the new commissioners. The word “Couple” was inadvertently written, instead of the word “Purpose,” we regret that'

Onwuemeodo in the statement stated the essence of the new Ministry and its purpose in the state.

“The real essence of life is to be happy and to fulfil one’s purpose in life; Government officials are elected to address this. Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment Ministry therefore, is established for the lost time to correct the policy framework to guide ministries and departments on what they must do to guarantee the citizens’ happiness and contribute better to the society. This is the very reason people elect their leaders: to guarantee their happiness and purpose fulfilment. A great leader therefore, is one who provides happiness to the people. Unfortunately, this vital element of our social lives has not been properly addressed. Governments at different levels have created several ministries and departments to achieve this, yet people are bitter, angry with hate speeches which lead to crisis, war and even terrorism'

On the choice of Ogechi Ololo, the sister to the governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, as the pioneer commissioner of the Ministry, Onwuemeodo said

“The choice of Mrs Ogechi Ololo, a Masters Degree Holder in computer Science, USA who has been the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor on Domestic Matters and Food Security can be described as a round peg in a round hole. Before her appointment as the supervisory commissioner, she was charged with the responsibility of liaising with the Federal Government on N-Power Project, CBN Anchor project and BOI, Empowerment Project
